Definitions for "Time Element Insurance"
Coverage designed to provide insurance for a covered incident resulting in loss of use of property for a period of time.For example Business Interruption and Extra Expense insurance.
A coverage which pays for loss of earnings or income when business operations are interrupted, curtailed or suspended due to property loss as a result of an insured cause of loss. Also covered are loss of rents and rental value. The current commercial time element coverage forms are business income and extra expense. Extra expense covers costs incurred to continue operations at another location.
A general term referring to those covers that protect against indirect losses resulting from damage to described property, where the amount of such losses depends on the length of time over which such losses accumulate.  Examples include Rent insurance, Leasehold insurance, Business Interruption insurance, and Extra Expense insurance.
