Analog-to-Digital Unit, unit defining integer values resulting from an analog to digital conversion.
Automatic Dialing Unit. A device capable of automatically generating dialing digits.
The unit of amplitude for samples.
Accessory Dwelling Unit. A self-contained housing unit incorporated within a single-family dwelling (not within accessory structures, except with a Special Permit) that is clearly a subordinate part of the single-family dwelling.

An ADU is an Analog/Digital Unit. This is the unit of measure for the values in a CCD image. If you measure a value of 2500 ADU for a particular pixel in an image, you can calculate how many electrons were actually collected by the corresponding photosite if you know the system gain of the CCD, which determines the conversion from electrons to ADUs.
ACCESSORY DWELLING UNIT. A separate housing arrangement within a single-family home. The ADU is a complete living unit and includes a private kitchen and bath.
See automatic dialing unit.
automatic dialing unit. A device that can automatically generate dialing digits.
AFFORDABLE DWELLING UNITS. Sale or rental housing units to serve households with incomes up to 70% of Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) median which are required to be included in certain housing developments of 50 or more units pursuant to Article 2, Part 8 of the Fairfax County Zoning Ordinance. In return for provision of this housing, additional development density is granted. Eligible occupancy, sales prices and rents of ADUs are controlled for a certain period of years. The FCRHA or nonprofit housing groups have a right to purchase a portion of the ADUs in a development.
Analog-to-digital unit. A number representing a CCD's output. The relationship between the ADUs generated and the number of electrons acquired on the CCD is defined by the system gain. Intensities given in ADUs provide a convenient method for comparing images and data generated by different cameras. Also referred to as count and digital number.
