They address the emotional imbalances underlying illness and can augment conventional treatments. The tinctures are sold preserved in brandy and can be combined with each other and water to make a more efficacious mixture. Flower remedies are not addictive so can be safely used by children, the elderly and by pregnant women.
Based on the theory that physical ailments as well as psychological problems arise from emotional states, particular herbs and flowers are given to help people work with their emotions. Like Homeopathic remedies, flower remedies (or flower essences) are liquid concentrates, diluted to such a degree as to work on a level other than biochemical.
