a device that can read various types of electrical signals and log the data in internal memory for later download to a computer
an instrument used to log
Data are uploaded to the computer roughly once per minute, while it is switched on. When the computer is switched off, the data are logged by the weather station itself and then downloaded to the computer when it is switched on. Because this model can record only 175 sets of data, the data cannot be logged so frequently. The night time data are therefore only suitable for studying the general trends and peak responses cannot be considered accurate.
An automatic or semi-automatic device used to collect and record data.
Also known as Measurement and Control System or Micrologger©. Data Loggers are the brain of a data acquisition system. They make measurements at a specified scan rate, process data, and initiate telecommunications. Our data loggers also have control capabilities allowing them to automatically respond to a specified conditions by controlling external devices (e.g., opening flood gates, turning fans off/on).
An electronic instrument that records and stores temperature, speed, pressure, on/off, open/closed, voltage, pressure and events measurements. Typically, data loggers are small, battery-powered computers with data storage capability.
Electronic device that records a variety of inputs (for example temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction) over time.
Sensory equipment that is used with software to accurately record and store information over a period of time, for example, temperature changes overnight.
A device deployed in the field that records weather data from one or more external sensors. Most modern data loggers are miniature digital computers that sample the data inputs and digitize the results at regular intervals, apply preset calibrations to convert from raw voltages or currents into meteorological variables, compute statistics such as mean values and variances, and record the results either internally in memory, locally on attached storage media, or transmit the results to a remote user or computer site via telephone line or radio link. Those data loggers that record the results in memory must be periodically serviced to download the data and then clear the memory to allow new data to be stored.
A data logger (or datalogger) is an electronic instrument that records data over time or in relation to location. Increasingly, but not necessarily, they are based on a digital processor (or computer). They may be small, battery powered and portable and vary between general purpose types for a range of measurement applications to very specific devices for measuring in one environment only.
