White cloud or mist-like spirit form that has more of a solid form to it.
(a) Traditionally, a semi-fluidous substance exuded from the bodily orifices of a "physical medium", by which a spirit might materialize. (b) Alternatively, a rare semi-fluidous substance sometimes reported to have been found in environments in which a spirit has materialized. Reported to be milky white in coloration, the substance is said to provide evidence of ghostly interaction with the physical environment or evidence to support the existence of the "kether", or the material comprising the astral plane. Rumored to be highly photo-reactive, dissipating in bright light. No recorded example of this fluid has been produced for laboratory testing. (c) Term popularly used in the amateur ghost hunting community to describe "psychic mist" or ghostly manifestations which appear as a light mist, inexplicable smoke, or a dense fog which may take on apparitional form.
Subtle living matter present in the body materialized by a medium.
A filmy, quasi-solid substance which supposedly issues from the bodies of mediums (from the mouth, nostrils, eyes, ears, navel or nipples) during trance states. In photographs, this phenomenon seems to resemble soaked muslin fabric. Whether or not it has ever been genuine, curiously, virtually no ectoplasm has been reported in the past fifty years.
A subtle living matter present in the body of a medium, and which is capable of assuming various semi-solid or solid states, which can be, and have been felt, and photographed. Primarily drawn from materialisation mediums, and to a lesser extent non-mediums, to "clothe" deceased, etheric persons. (See also "teleplasm")
An ethereal substance whose source and properties remain unknown from which astral bodies and other astral phenomena are formed. All of the matter of the astral plane is composed of ectoplasm, but it has not been proven that astral bodies draw their substance from them.
A substance which appears to emanate from a medium's body during a séance. Ectoplasm is usually white in color and feels sticky to the touch.
Alleged to be the third stage of ghostly manifestation. Ectoplasm is not a term used to describe ‘stuff' appearing from mediums' mouths during séance, but is now more commonly used to describe a cloud-like substance that appears in photographs. So often ectoplasm is just cigarette smoke! (which is why you shouldn't smoke in any areas where pictures are being taken). Moving ectoplasm appears to have a life of it's own and ‘sentience'.
Ectoplasm can be either a solid, liquid or vaporous substance producedby ghosts or spirits, It is usually a milky white color and has an ozone smell. Someforms of ectoplasm are known to move in lifelike patterns.
A semi-fluid product of psychic energy which usually forms as a fog like mist, solid white mass, or vortexes.
(from the latin ektos=outside, plasma=formed or created) - a substance existent in the human body and utilized by the spirits so they can materialize. Only humans who possess a very specific type of mediumship - physical effects mediunship - are capable of donating enough ectoplasm in order for a materialization to occurr.
The substance supposed to emanate from the body of the medium during a trance.
An unknown substance which emanates from the bodies of mediums, correlating to supernatural phenomena.
It is said to be the energy of a spirit that is present in a medium's body before any manifestation occurs. It is usually a milky white color.
A solid or vaporous substance, lifelike and moldable, that supposedly exudes from the body of a medium (usually from one of the facial orifices) to form seemingly corporeal limbs, faces, or entire bodies. Ectoplasm is a usually dense but liquidy, milky-white substance with the scent of ozone
(from theGreek ektos and plasma: exteriorized substance), a mysteriousprotoplasmic substance streaming out of the body of mediums by themanipulation of which, either by the subconscious self or bydiscarnate intelligences, phenomena of a super-physical order, including partial and complete materializations, are produced. See ECTOPLASM.
A substance which emanates from the body of a medium during a trance. This often appears as a mist –like substance.
A vaporous substance with varying degrees of density which emanates from ghosts or spirits.
A matter that spirits produce to make themselves visible to living beings.
An immaterial or ethereal substance associated with spirit manifestations.
N,O A white filmy substance pouring from a medium's bodily openings, supposedly denoting the presence of a disembodied spirit.
Term introduced into parapsychology by Charles Richet to describe the “exteriorized substance†produced out of the bodies of some physical mediums and from which materializations are sometimes formed.
This term comes from the Greek words ektos and plasma, which means exteriorized substance. It is apparently a substance that exudes from a medium's body, and then forms as arms, hands or even faces. Several photos exist of this phenomena, all show little as fantastic as a body part or face. A large problem to its validity is that some unscrupulous mediums were exposed as frauds by making ectoplasm from soap, gelatins, egg whites and strips of muslin.
An ethereal substance whose source and properties remain unknown. Astral bodies, other astral phenomena, and all matter on the astral plane are formed from it.
In parapsychology, ectoplasm (From the Greek ektos, “outside,†+ plasma, “something formed or moldedâ€) is a term coined by Charles Richet to denote a substance or spiritual energy "exteriorized" by physical mediums. Sometimes materializations of spirits are formed from this substance, and some say that it makes psychokinesis possible.http://parapsych.org/glossary_e_k.html#e Parapsychological Association website, Glossary of Key Words Frequently Used in Parapsychology, Retrieved January 24, 2006 As with all paranormal phenomena, the existense of ectoplasm is highly controversial.
