A value returned by an I/O routine when the end of a file (or, in some cases, an error) is encountered. The iostream library function eof returns TRUE on the end-of-file condition. When a file is opened in text mode, a logical end of file occurs whenever a CTRL+Z character is encountered.
nd ile - Marker used by computers to indicate where a data stream ends.
This is the acronym for End Of File.
end of frame. Last cell that encapsulates the frame. Some data transport space is wasted in the last cell.
EOF stands for end-of-file. UNIX uses a character value of 4 to represent the end-of-file, and DOS/Windows uses a value of 26. These end-of-file values are ignored in binary mode. See also Binary Mode.
End of Feature. User-visible functionality can be removed from OpenSolaris minor releases subject to (1) Governing Board (or its designate) and ARC approval of public notification for a defined period of time prior to actual removal, and (2) Governing Board (or its designate) and ARC approval of actual removal. User-visible functionality usually has a commitment level of Unstable or higher. Functionality visible only to specific groups (e.g. contracted or partner private) can be removed subject to ARC approval and the time frame may be decided with the specific group.
A boolean function which returns True if an opened file has read past it's last data value and is at the end of file marker, else it returns False.
End of file character. Attached to the last record transmitted in a block of records and after the EOR, if the EOF character field is enabled.
