Definitions for "Final exam"
Written and oral exams are held at the end of the session. They evaluate the level acquired by the student at the end of the programme. The final exam grade is added to that for continual assessment to determine whether the student should be awarded the certificate or diploma. A grade higher than the average is required in the written papers to pass the exam.
An exam, usually comprehensive, designed to measure a student’s retention and understanding of the course material. Final exams are scheduled for the last week of the semester and do not necessarily correspond to the regular class meeting time.
