Galicia or Galiza is a region of Spain that became a Spanish autonomous community in 1978. It is located in the northwest of Iberian Peninsula. It shares borders with Portugal to the South and the communities of Castile and LeÃ³n and Asturias to the East.
Galicia (, , , , , , ) is an historical region in East Central Europe, currently divided between Poland and Ukraine. The nucleus of historic Galicia are Lviv, Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk regions of western Ukraine.
