(L1) Also known as primary cache, L1 Cache is a small amount of high-speed memory that resides on or very close to the processor. L1 Cache supplies the processor with the most frequently requested data and instructions.

A small, fast memory cache that is built in to the main chip and helps speed access to important and frequently-used data.

Cache built directly into the processor chip; it usually has a very small capacity, ranging from 8 KB to 64 KB but the most common size is 16 KB. Also called primary cache or internal cache. 4.19
