A pointer-like device, used in conjunction with a display screen, that provides a signal to identify particular elements displayed on the screen for later reference.
A device resembling a pencil or stylus which emits a light and reads the reflectance. Used to input information to a CRT display system or send coded information to the host.
A peripheral device shaped like a pen that sends instructions to the computer when you point to choices on the screen. It works only with applications designed to receive input from the light pen.
(computer science) a pointer that when pointed at a computer display senses whether or not the spot is illuminated
a computer input device that is used hand in hand with the computer monitor
a computerized pen that you point at the screen of your TV or monitor
a hand-held device (very similar to a standard ballpoint pen) that has a device at the tip, which either emits light or is light sensitive
a hand-held electro-optical pointing device which when touched to or aimed closely at a connected computer monitor, will allow the computer to determine where on that screen the pen is aimed
a light-sensitive pen-like device used by pointing it at the display surface
an ideal pointing device when data input has to be input by touch
a pen with a special tip that lets you select and move objects on your computer screen by touching the pen tip directly to the screen
a pointing device shaped like a pen and is connected
a small pen-sized device that contains a light-sensitive photocell in its tip and connects to the computer via a cable
a type of pointing device for computers
A pen-like device that contains a photosensitive cell and small aperture lens that produces or detects electronic signals; can be used to write freehand directly on a TV screen or to enter, edit and position computer text or graphics.
A hand-held scanning device used a bar code and character reader.
In a bar code system, a handheld scanning wand that is used as a contact bar code reader held in the hand. See Wand Scanner.
A computer input device that acts somewhat like a mouse. A user points a wand or pen at the monitor and the computer responds to commands sensed from the emission of light from the device. Light pens are rare in modern computing due to the popularity of the mouse. Light pens are sometimes used in casinos to mark numbers in computerised Keno games.
A pen-like device that is sensitive to light. More specifically, it is sensitive to the electron gun of a CRT monitor hitting it. Based on when the electron...
a pen-like, contact reader that is hand-held, typically employing an infrared or normal source of light. See wand reader, contact reader.
Also known as a wand. A scanning device which is used as a hand held bar code reader. Requires direct contact with the printed bar code field.
This is a hand-held pen-like contact reader that a user must sweep across the bar code symbol in order to read the code. (also see Wand.)
a hand-held, pen-like scanner.
A handheld input stylus that uses a photocell to transmit signals to a computer screen, first used in CAD applications.
a hand-held input device that looks like a pen
Light-sensitive pen-like input device connected by a wire to a computer terminal; the user brings the pen to the display screen and presses the pen button, which identifies that screen location to the computer.
Another input device alternative to he mouse. Hardly used at all now, it works with the refreshing of the monitor and other sensory elements to tell where it is 'pointing'.
Handheld input device that contains a light source or can detect light. Some light pens require a specially designed monitor, while others work with a standard monitor. Objects on the screen are selected by pressing the light pen against the surface of the screen or by pointing the light pen at the screen and then pressing a button on the pen. 5.12
A clever, high-speed pen-shaped device which, when held against a CRT, can issue instructions for program or graphics purposes. The pen usually doesn't admit light, a photo-sensitive cell in the pen reacts to light from the screen. Placing the pen over the relevant command shown on a screen will cause that command to be carried out. Simple versions can be seen reading bar codes at supermarket check-outs. Casio apply a similar system for entering music from bar codes into their small microprocessor keyboards.
A hand-held scanning wand which is used as a contact bar code reader.
A light pen is a computer input device in the form of a light-sensitive wand used in conjunction with the computer's CRT monitor. It allows the user to point to displayed objects, or draw on the screen, in a similar way to a touch screen but with greater positional accuracy. A light pen can work with any CRT-based monitor, but not with LCD screens, projectors or other display devices.
