(mar-KEEZ) A faceted, elongated, oval stone that tapers to a point at both ends. It is a form of brilliant cut.
A Marquise cut stone is brilliant cut, forming an elongated oval, often with pointed ends.
A gem cut with its girdle shaped in an elliptical fashion, with both ends pointed (somewhat like an NFL football).
