(BRON-key-ole) Minute thin-walled branch of a bronchus (one of the primary divisions of the trachea that leads into the lungs) diagram
branch of tertiary bronchus further subdividing into terminal bronchioles (to lobules of lung), which divide into respiratory bronchioles (to alveolar sacs)
Small airway passages that branch off the lungs' larger bronchial tubes. At the end of the bronchiole are the alveole, which are little sac-like structures where 'dirty' blood gets re-oxygenated before routing back through the heart. If the air we inhale cannot make it through the bronchiole to the alveole, the blood's oxygen saturation level will go down. Here's an illustration of bronchiole during an asthma flare.
The tiny (all less than 1 millimeter in diameter), branching airways that lead from the bronchi to the alveoli. Bronchioles have elastic fibers and smooth muscle but (unlike bronchi) no cartilage. Most bronchioles also produce mucus.
Bronchioles are the narrowest airways that branch from the bronchi of the trachea.
any of the smallest bronchial ducts; ending in alveoli
a branch of a bronchus within the lung
the smallest airway in the lung that branches into the alveoli.
The small airways that carry air into and out of the lungs. In people with asthma they become inflamed, narrowed, contracted, and sticky with mucus.
BRON-ki-ol Microscopic branch of the bronchi within the lungs. 737
(BRONG-kee-ol) A series of small tubes that arise as branches from tertiary bronchi within each lung.
Any of the fine, thin-walled, tubular extensions of a bronchus.
One of the small subdivisions of a bronchus or bronchial tube.
The smaller airways of the lungs.
a small branch of the bronchial tubes or airway.
Respiratory airways within the lungs that is smaller and farther away from the throat. These are the smallest air tubes within the lung and branch off of larger bronchi and join to alveolar ducts, and to alveolar acini.
Small branch of the bronchial tree which contains no cartilage in the wall
Finer air passages of the lungs.
Small branching airways within the lung.
small airways in the lungs.
A tiny branch of air tubes in the lungs.
Airways connecting to lungs.
a small airway (subdivision of the bronchus) that leads to areas of the lung and absorbs oxygen from the air.
a small division of a bronchus
The bronchioles are the first airway branches that no longer contain cartilage. They are branches of the bronchi, and are smaller than one millimeter in diameter.
