Programs that provide instructional resources to help children who are performing below grade level obtain the necessary academic skills to reach grade level performance in the shortest possible time. These programs serve children who are at risk of not reaching or maintaining academic grade level. Early intervention programs are typically state programs for children birth to 3 years old, who have, or are at risk for developing, a handicapping condition or other special needs that may affect development. Services may be provided in the patientâ€(tm)s natural environment, and assistance is provided in transitioning children to early school programs at 3 years old.
