Srti That which is remembered. Applicable to Hindu scripture other than the Vedas.

(Skt. revelation). That portion of the Vedic scriptures which was directly revealed to the ancient Rishis.

Books of authority for Hindus, consists of 4 vedas (rig, samma, yajur and atharva)

"what is heard;" in Vedic religion/Hinduism, the primary revelation, as found in the Vedas, Brahmanas, and Upanishads. Held to be of divine and not human authorship, Shruti emphasizes the importance of scriptural "word-as-sound." See also Smriti.

Musical interval

a small cent gap in the pitch of a note which most people would not be able to notice (as in a very small string pull on a guitar)

shruti is a naad that can be distiguished clearly by the ear. Veterans realize 22 shruties in a saptak.

Micro-tones. Also used in the sense of pitch, interval or intonation.

To hear. Sound intervals that the ear can reasonably discern which exist between recognised notes or swars.

the musical pitch, especially of sa, pa, sa that is used, or the key. It can also be any particular pitch (for example, the shruti of ri in a raaga, or the shruti at which a violin's string is set). Men usually sing at a shruti of 1 to 1 1/2, while women tend to sing at shrutis of 4 1/2 to 5

in tune, for example "always be sure you are singing in shruti"
