A manual rigging system where the pipe battens travels the same distance as the counterweight arbor. In a single purchase system the counterweight should be equal to the weight supported on the pipe batten. Every foot of travel in the counterweight arbor and control line equals a foot of travel at the pipe batten.
A rope or cable passing from a lifting device (arbor, winch, or person) over a block, or series of blocks, to a load is single purchased. Force must be exerted equal to the load to be held or raised.
A suspension system for counterweight bars where no gearing is used. The distance of travel of the counterweight bucket will be the same as the barrel.
