A tool, variously shaped or grooved on the end or face, used by blacksmiths and other workers in metals, for shaping their work, whether sheet metal or forging, by holding the swage upon the work, or the work upon the swage, and striking with a sledge.
To shape by means of a swage; to fashion, as a piece of iron, by forcing it into a groove or mold having the required shape.
To fasten a termination to a wire rope by physically deforming the termination around the rope; as by hammering, or by hydraulic press. Strength is 100% of wire rope rating.
a tool used to straighten damaged or collapsed casing in a well.
a tool used to thicken or spread (the end of a bar or a rivet etc.) by forging or hammering or swaging
a pair of steel blocks containing cavities in the shape of the upper and lower halves of the desired object
a tool used to shape metal
a tool with a shaped recess into which the hot iron or steel can be driven to cause it to take the shape of the recess
To form by forcing into or through a die. Rhymes with "age."
to form metal by driving it into a negative cavity of the desired shape 2: a tool with a negative impression in it
To shape metal by hammering or adapting it onto a die.
A tool for drawing iron into a regular elongate shape.
Swaging is a metal forming technique in which the metal is plastically deformed to its final shape using high pressures, either by pressing or hammering, or by forcing through a die. Swaging differs from forging in that the swaged metal is cold worked, and the output of the swaging operation is usually the finished shape. The term swage can apply to the process of swaging, a die used for swaging, or a tool used to swage.
