Alex is a fictional character, the narrator and antihero of Anthony Burgess' novel A Clockwork Orange and the movie adaptation, in which he is played by Malcolm Mc Dowell.

Alex is a cartoon strip by Charles Peattie and Russell Taylor. It first appeared in the short-lived London Daily News in 1987. It moved to The Independent later that year and then to the Daily Telegraph in 1992.
Alex is an African grey parrot. Since 1977 he has been the subject of a running experiment under animal psychologist Irene Pepperberg, initially at the University of Arizona and currently at Brandeis University.
