Accredited Standards Committee, X12 was chartered by ANSI in 1979 to develop uniform standards for inter-industry exchange of business transactions - electronic data interchange (EDI) standards. The X12 standards establish a common, uniform business language to allow computers to communicate with one another.
The Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12, comprised of cross-industry representation, delivers the most commonly implemented EDI standards that interact with a wide variety of e-commerce technologies.
