Definitions for "Associative relationship"
A relationship where two objects or services know of each other and can communicate.
The relationship between pairs of terms which are not members of an equivalence set, nor can they be organised as a hierarchy in which one term is subordinated to another, yet they are mentally associated to such an extent that the link between them should be made explicit on the grounds that it would reveal alternative terms that might be used for indexing or retrieval.
