An Italian dish made of paper thin slices of beef dressed with olive oil and parmesan cheese. Slices of raw white truffles are an excellent partner to this dish.
This is Italian for "thin shavings" and involves cutting a raw meat such as beef into very thin slices which are then topped with olive oil and lemon juice or served with a mayonnaise or mustard sauce.
Originally, paper thin slices of raw beef with a creamy sauce, invented at Harry's Bar in Venice. In recent years, the term has come to describe very thinly sliced vegeatables, raw or smoked meats, and fish. Back to the top
