(also Net) Goddess of the bowstring and of the loom. She is the goddess of all string technology, which was a sophisticated development of Paleolithic and Neolithic technologies. She is represented by a bow and set of arrows, or by a golden shuttle.
(Pronounced ‘Neet'.) War-like Creator goddess of Sais.
A goddess of the hunt. She may have also been a war goddess. Neith was pictured as a woman wearing the red crown of Lower Egypt, holding a bow and crossed arrows. Her cult sign was a shield and crossed arrows.
In Egyptian mythology, Neith (also known as Nit, Net and Neit) was the patron deity of Sais, in the Western Nile Delta. Originally, Neith was a goddess of the hunt and of war, and had as her symbol, like the town of Sais itself, two crossed Arrows over a shield. It is thought that Neith may correspond to the Berber and Punic goddess Tanit (Ta-Nit).
