An incentive payment is given for work that has been completed. The pay is dependent upon the amount of items produced or operations finished.
Work paid for according to the amount done.
Work paid for at a fixed rate (piece-rate) per piece of work done.
Pay buy the number of units completed. The theory is that the faster you work, the more you will get paid. Many workers have learned that if they exceed a certain quota, the piece rate will be lowered.
Piece work or piecework describes types of employment in which a worker is paid a fixed "piece rate" for each unit produced or action performed. Piece work is also a form of Performance-Related Pay (PRP) and is the oldest form of performance pay.
