Definitions for "Positive feedback loop"
Situation in which a change in a certain direction provides information that causes a system to change further in the same direction. Compare negative feedback loop.
A self-perpetuating loop that, in time, destroys its system. A positive feedback loop is created when an action causes a reaction that, in turn, prompts the original action to reoccur, resulting in a mounting cycle between the two. Here is a perfect example of a positive feedback loop. When a microphone is located too close to its speaker, the sound coming in through the microphone comes out louder through the speaker. Then, the microphone picks up that sound, transmitting it back through the speaker. This cycle goes on until the noise becomes so loud it sounds like a screech.
