Also called a Stage 4 assessment, this is the process of gathering together the evidence of all those involved with a particular child (parents, school, educational psychologist, doctor, etc) in order to make a decision on whether the LEA should issue a Statement. A statutory assessment may be formally requested by a parent or by the school.
