See Time Domain Reflectometry.
Time Domain Reflectometry. A technique used to track faults in networks, such as cable breaks or loose connections. A pulse of a known shape is transmitted over the network and an echo is created when the pulse hits an obstacle or cable end. The time lapsed between the sending of the pulse and receiving the echo can be used to locate the origin of the echo and therefore the break. Sophisticated testing equipment is available to perform this test and to analyze the results.
A system that uses a reflectometer to generate an electromagnetic pulse that is applied to a coaxial system. The resulting reflection waveform is analyzed and stored. The elapsed travel time and pulse reflection amplitude contain information that can be used to determine soil volumetric water content, soil bulk electrical conductivity, rock mass deformation, or other time-domain measurements.

Transferable Development Rights. One of many different property rights, transferable development rights can be removed from one property (known as the sending property) and used to increase the amount of development on another property (known as the receiving property). In the PDC program, each transferable development right is equivalent to one home or residential lot. Four transferable development rights equal one Pinelands Development Credit.
Transferable development right. Technique allowing landowners to transfer right to develop a specific parcel of land to another parcel.
Transferable Development Rights. In order to maintain the agricultural reserve, many large properties were rezoned in the 1980's from 1 unit/5 acres to 1 unit/25 acres. In exchange for this rezoning, the land owners were granted Transferable Development Rights (TDRs), which they could then sell to developers. Other areas in the county were designated as TDR receiving areas. If a developer bought a TDR, they could build a development in the TDR receiving area at a higher density than it was originally zoned.
TORQUE DIFFERENTIAL RECEIVER. A type of differential synchro that takes two electrical inputs, one to the rotor and one to the stator, and produces a mechanical output. The output is the angular position of the rotor that represents the algebraic sum or difference of the two electrical inputs.
