How engine speed is measured; displayed on a tachometer on the instrument panel. The redline on the tachometer shows the maximum rpm, in cars with a rev limiter you can't accelerate past the redline but have to upchange gear.
The number of turns or rotations the engine makes in a minute (abbreviated RPM). Engine RPM is expressed in hundreds on the tachometer.
Unit of measurement of the speed of a rotating device, such as a gear or shaft.

Revolutions per minute (abbreviated rpm, RPM, r/min, or r·min−1) is a unit of frequency, commonly used to measure rotational speed, in particular in the case of rotation around a fixed axis. It represents the number of full rotations something makes in one minute. The International System of Units (SI) unit for rotational velocity is the radian per second (rad·s−1).
Revolutions Per Minute is the debut album from Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players band member, Jason Trachtenburg.
Revolutions Per Minute is the fifth full-length studio album by Skid Row, released on October 24, 2006. It is also the band's first release with current drummer Dave Gara.
