A condition in metal where a minor dent is present. Usually dings are caused by rocks, car door edges, or other small objects.
A small point of damage on a crystal. As in "That's a nice crystal, except for that ding."
A term often used by the public to refer to stone damage to a windshield.

Ding is used as a slang term for "accident" in Australian and New Zealand English, with particular reference to any damage caused (thus a person who has dented their vehicle in a collision might be said to have "dinged their car"). In American English, it typically refers to small dents or damage on the surface of the vehicle.
