This is one of the oldest surface-mount packages. A flatpack typically has leads on both sides of its body on 0.050 inch centers. Most flatpacks have from 14 to 50 flat ribbon leads. (See PQFP-plastic quad flatpack)
Common designator for a two or four-sided integrated circuit package with gull wing or flat leads. The component leads extend from the sides and have their termination plane on the same linear plane as the base of the package, with standard spacing between leads. Commonly, the lead pitches are at 1.27mm (0.05in) centres, but lower pitches also may be used.
Integrated circuit type with semiconductor chip enclosed in a shallow rectangular or square package, having component terminations on two or four sides. Generally intended for surface mounted assemblies.
