Minimum Security Unit NCLB No Child Left Behind
Performance/capacity ratings assigned to IBM S/390 and zSeries systems, and compatible mainframes from Hitachi and Amdahl. MSUs are generally comparable to millions of instructions per second (MIPS), with one MSU equaling between 5.5 and 6.0 MIPS. Historically, all S/390-class software, both from the hardware vendors and independent software vendors, is priced based on server capacity, as determined by performance data. Pricing schemes such as Parallel Sysplex License Charge are based on MSUs.
Modem Sharing Unit. A device that permits two or more terminals to share a single modem.
1) Message signal unit (ISDN term). 2) See Modem Sharing Unit.
mobile station unit; handset carried by the subscriber
Millions of Service Units. A measurement of computer capacity used by IBM's zSeries VWLC.
( Millions of Service Units) - A methodology for measuring utilization of a mainframe System. Similar to MIPS (Millions Instructions Per Second).
Message Signal Unit. SS7 message that carries call control, database traffic, network management, and network maintenance data in the signaling information field (SIF).
message signal unit. A signal unit containing a service information octet and a signalling information field which is retransmitted by the signalling link control if it is received in error.
Microwave Sounding Units. Sensors carried aboard Earth orbiting satellites that have been used since 1979 to monitor tropospheric temperatures.
