Definitions for "INACTIVE RECORD"
Records still needed by an organization, but not for current operations.
A record that is not required to be readily available for the business purposes of a department or agency and which may therefore be transferred to intermediate storage, archival custody, or be destroyed subject to applicable laws. Also called a Non-current record. Source: Ellis, p. 472.
A record that does not have to be readily available, but which must be kept for legal, fiscal, or historical purposes.
