To raise the mouse button over a selected menu entry. Choosing a leaf entry executes the associated callback procedure.
Definition: To pick a course of action or assign a course of action. Usage: Normal text rules. Example 1: Choose Applications- Accessories- Calculator to start the Calculator application. Example 2: On the Run Application dialog, use the drop-down combination box to choose an application to run.
To pick a command from a menu. Usually you do this after selecting something for the Apple IIgs to act on.
To force an action from a menu, dialog, or window. Generally, you select options in a dialog and then choose OK or Apply to implement those options. Compare with Select.
To perform a command or action by moving the mouse pointer (an arrow) over an object and clicking. To choose with the keyboard, see Chapter 3 "Learning Basic Skills".
To pick an item that begins an action. You often choose a command on a menu to perform a task, and you choose an icon to start an application.

Refers only to the selection of options (within parameter blocks or value-aids) using the mouse.
To put a menu option into effect, usually by clicking on a button. This is different from selecting, which highlights an object, file, etc. to work with, but does not actually perform the work.
(1) In human interface design, refers narrowly to turning on a value in a component that offers a set of possible values, such as a combo box or a list box. (2) In technical documentation, refers generally to the action of clicking a menu title or menu item. See also activation, select.
To use the mouse or keyboard to pick a menu item, button, or icon that begins a command or action. Contrast with select.
