Praise, honor, admiration, or distinction, accorded by common consent to a person or thing; high reputation; honorable fame; renown.
That quality in a person or thing which secures general praise or honor; that which brings or gives renown; an object of pride or boast; the occasion of praise; excellency; brilliancy; splendor.
Pride; boastfulness; arrogance.
The presence of the Divine Being; the manifestations of the divine nature and favor to the blessed in heaven; celestial honor; heaven.
The quality of fame won by deeds, not quite the same as renown. Glory is the quality of the ‘rush' won from victory, and as such was highly valued as a motivator by warriors and equally scorned by the church. Warriors and knights considered glory a good thing, one that drove men to greatness, a reward for excellence that was the right of the successful warrior. The church viewed glory as a force that drove men to recklessness, to vainglory, to excess.
God's excellence, brightness, beauty, power, mercy, grace, patience, truth, faithfulness and prosperity seen in creation, Jesus Christ and His children; God manifesting Himself in our lives.
a state of high honor; "he valued glory above life itself"
When Moses asked God to show him His glory, God took Him back into the mountain and caused all His goodness to pass before him (Ex. 33:17-23). The remarkable effect on Moses was seen in his shining countenance for a long time thereafter. The concept of "Glory in the Church" beautifully portrays the manifest presence of Christ among His people in revival. Consider the delightful expressions that have been used to portray this aspect of revival: "Glory Filled the Land," "A Gracious Manifestation of God's Glory," "They Saw His Glory," and "The Whole Earth Was Filled with His Glory." Such expressions most certainly excite the believing heart to desire and expect the repetition of such "Glory Days" once again.
praise, honor, or distinction extended by common consent
The divine splendor of God, or a specific manifestation of God's presence frequently likened to a cloud, smoke, or brilliant light. To serve and worship God is to glorify Him. Through the Holy Spirit, Christians are being changed to be like God and to reflect His glory. (See Ex. 19:9, 16-18; Is. 60:1; Luke 2:9; Rom. 8:16 18; 2 Cor. 3:18; 4:6.) See also SHEKINAH.
great love, praise and honor; the beautiful light around God
Glory (from the Latin gloria, "fame, renown") is used to denote the manifestation of God's presence in the Judeo-Christian religious tradition. In Hebrew it would probably be the word הוד Hod.
Glory is a fictional character from the comic book series created by Rob Liefeld. The character's full name is Gloriana Demeter, a half-Amazon, half-Demon warrior. The character was clearly meant to be a version of Wonder Woman in the Image universe, especially given the ties to mythology.
