Any dark spirit (including infernals, incarnations, unseelie fey and some nature spirits) which has not manifested itself in the real world, but is visible (and aware of) it by extending its senses. Shadows appear to be vague, shadowy versions of their physical forms (compare this to Visions). While still in the spirit world, shadow demons are less affected by and less able to affect the physical world, making them virtually invincible but also weak in comparison to their true forms. Most shadows rely on magical artifacts or spells to interact with the world of men. Their powers are affected by the boundaries of the spirit realms with this one, and weaken in places or times of light. Infernal shadows are more commonly referred to as shadow demons.
The dark area behind an object that has light cast on it, shade.
In the OS/2 operating system, a duplicate object that maintains a link to the original object. The objects can be located in different folders. If the duplicate or the original is changed, the other changes as well. See shortcut.

Duplication of an image that's slightly offset. Drop shadow is a simple copyand offset; block shadow joins the outlines of the original and duplicate to create a3D-relief effect; and cast alters the shape and size of the duplicate to imitate shadows castfrom varied placement of light, as the sun does on a sundial.
An unconscious part of the personality containing characteristics and weaknesses which one's self-esteem will not permit one to recognize as one's own. To declare a variable with the same name as a variable defined in a superclass. We say the variable "shadows" the superclass's variable. Use the super keyword to refer to the shadowed variable, or refer to it by casting the object to the type of the superclass.
AppliquƩ - Applique done using a see-through fabric such as silk organza or polyester netting to shade or shadow the images. The transparency of the fabric gives a different color look to the areas covered.
The Shadow control allows you to adjust the darkness level of the darkest parts of an image. You can select from 0 to 60 by moving the slider. Click the eyedropper button beneath the slider, and the mouse pointer changes to an eyedropper. Move the eyedropper over the preview image, and click a dark area. The eyedropper "picks up" the color from that area, and uses it as the shadow for the entire image. This effect shows up immediately in the preview image. Click Cancel to restore the original image.
In general, an area that is totally or partially obscured from light by an object. In Maya, an individual light source can produce no shadows (default), depth map shadows or raytraced shadows. You can combine depth map shadow casting lights and raytraced shadow casting lights in a scene. Adjusting the attributes of depth map shadows or raytraced shadows can simulate shadows from many different types of real-world light sources and objects. Depth map shadows and raytraced shadows produce similar results, though depth map shadows usually take less time to render. Generally, choose depth map shadows unless they cannot accomplish your visual goal. See also depth map, raytracing.
The shadow is the most common complaint of young to middle aged head shavers who have fair skin and darker hair. Comparable are the mature head shavers who have a medium-dark complexion. They encounter the shadow as they age and their hair folicles begin to lose color. Spray on tans, permanent make-up and lasers may be good solutions to this head shaving challenge.
A shadow is a region of darkness where light is blocked. A shadow occupies all the space behind an opaque object with light in front of it. The cross section of a shadow is a two-dimensional silhouette, or reverse projection of the object blocking the light.
