Data Acquisition Server. This was an earlier name of the Cisco CNS Performance Engine application.
Dual Attachment Station - An FDDI station that offers two connections to the FDDI network, and which is capable of serving the dual (counter rotating) ring.
Direct Attached Storage. A term that describes the direct attachment of a RAID device to a server, workstation, or terminal.
Distributed antenna system. A network of components that input a radio frequency (wireless) signal, convert it to wired media, transport it throughout a facility, and then re-convert it back to a wireless signal. A DAS is used to bring radio frequency coverage inside a facility for mobile users.
Data Attribute Structure. This is a DODS construct, showing a list of variables, and attributes associated with those variables, for a given data set. A variable's attributes may include such things as the instrument that recorded it, quality control information and so on. The response to a _das request to a DODS server is a DAS.
DAS (Dial-up Access Services) is McGill's own ISP. It provides special rates for students and staff; for details, contact CC. website: McGill University DAS (Dial-up Access Services see also: CC, ISP
A dedicated storage device attached directly to a server using SCSI cabling. DAS environments often involve a mix of different vendor storage and management interfaces.
digital acquisition system. Most PASSCAL DASs are made by Refraction Technologies REF TEK, so "DAS" and "REF TEK" are often used interchangeably.
Traditional storage model where the storage devices are directly connected to a local PC / server.
Direct Attached Storage. Storage that is directly connected to a server.
An acronym for Direct Attached Storage, those parts of a Wide Area Network in which the mass storage devices are connected locally
DEOS Analysis System. DAS consists of the following components: FLUSS. DAS is a component of DEOS .
data acquisition systems.
Directly Attached Storage. In the old days all mass storage devices such as disk drives etc were attached directly to the nearest computer (or were located inside the same box) so there was no need for a term describing this. But since the technologies which enable storage networking have become more prevalent, the term DAS has been used to describe those parts of a wider storage network in which this local connection is still used..
DAS is storage that is directly connected to a server by connectivity media such as parallel SCSI cables. This direct connection provides fast access to the data; however, storage is only accessible from that server. DAS include the internally attached local disk drives or externally attached RAID (redundant array of independent disks) or JBOD (just a bunch of disks). Although Fibre Channel can be used for direct attached, it is more commonly used in storage area networks.
Das is a lunar impact crater on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the northwest of the Chebyshev walled plain. To the southwest of Das is the irregular Mariotte crater, and the Von der Pahlen crater lies to the east-northeast.
