Device Control Modules. A Device Control Module (DCM) is a Software Element that is installed and executed on a HAVi device that provides control over device-specific functionality, (such as a VCR or a camera) via the HAVi-defined APIs (such as the "PLAY" API of a VCR). DCMs are installable Software Elements, which means that their presence depends on which devices or functionality is actually present in a particular HAVi network. In principle there can be multiple DCMs for one particular device present in a HAVi network. When a device is inserted or powered up in the network, all IAVs and FAVs will check to determine if they have a DCM for that device, and will then negotiate with each other as to which DCM will be installed for the device, and on which IAV or FAV it will be installed. Only one DCM can be installed at any time for each particular device. This selection and installation process is controlled by the DCMs on the IAVs and FAVs, however, HAVi offers several user definable preferences settings for this process.

DCM Module Format

Debt Capital Markets. The area of an investment bank responsible for the issuance and pricing of bonds and other debt securities. DCM is involved in the bond product, providing credit rating advice for corporates, organising bond finance using a pool of investors and offering derivative solutions for risk management. This area also trades bonds in the secondary marketplace. DCM also includes the securitisation businesses, which are involved in repackaging and selling financial or corporate assets to the market place.

Dialogic Configuration Manager. A utility with a graphical user interface (GUI) that enables you to add new boards to your system and work with board configuration data. You can: 1) view and modify configuration data for boards with Board Locator Technology; 2) add, modify and delete configuration data for hardware-configurable boards; 3) start and stop Dialogic System Service.

Data Collection Manager. An Intermec connectivity product that lets you set up communications between runtime applications and the data input stations. A variety of communication protocols are supported, including TCP/IP, APPC, and screen mapping.
