The devil as an individual, demonic angel is often depicted as a man with horns, a tail, and cloven feet. A devilkin is a small devil, or imp. Devilry is a British term for witchcraft or black magic.

A word used in the King James Version to represent either Satan, the primary agent of evil, or an individual demon. See "demon."
(sah-TAHN) n. Satan; Accuser. In the Tanakh, "the satan" appears as a prosecutor in the heavenly court among "the sons of God" (Job 1-2; Zech. 3:1-3) and later as a tempter (1 Chron. 21:1; cf. 2 Sam. 24:1). Although the Hebrew Bible says virtually nothing about Satan's origin, the pseudepigraphal writings contain much legendary material about his fall from heaven and the establishment of a hierarchy of demons and devils. By the time the New Testament was written, Satan was understood to head a kingdom of Evil and to seek the corruption of all people, including the Messiah (Matt. 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13). Satan (the "Opposer" or "Adversary") is also "the Evil One" (Matt. 6:13; 13:19; Eph. 6:16; 1 John 2:13; 5:18-19), "the Devil" (Matt. 4:1; 13:39; 25:41; John 8:44; Eph. 4:27), and the primordial serpent who tempted Eve (Rev. 12:9).

The Greek word for devil means "separator"; he seeks to pull people away from God. Although not evil by nature, the devil turned by his free choice from what was according to nature to what was against it. At the end of time, Christ will judge the devil and his followers and cast them into hell. See Matt. 25:41; Luke 10:18; 1 Pet. 5:8.

We believe that there is only one power and one presence in the Universe - that we call God. We believe that the nature of God is good. We do not believe that there is an opposing power for evil. We believe evil comes from the mind of man, as people misuse their creative powers. Our own negative thinking, which creates negative results, is the only devil we will encounter.
The Christian and Islamic opposite of God. The devil as an entity was the result of the mis translation of a Hebrew word appearing in the Old Testament, ha-satan, which simply means "adversary." The term was personified by the early Christian Church and its image taken from the Celtic Horned God as a means of frightening people away from the religions of witchcraft. Some Christians contend that all Pagans worship the devil, but since he is a creation of Christian theology, and adopted whole-heartedly by Muslims, one must necessarily be of those faiths to believe in or worship him. The Craft is a pre- Christian religion which has been around much longer than the church or its concept of satan, who was never worshipped as a deity of the Old Religion.

The Devil is a title given to the supernatural entity, who, in Christianity, Islam, and other faiths, is a powerful evil entity and the tempter of humankind. The Devil commands a force of lesser evil spirits, commonly known as demons.
In the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game, Devils are an often-powerful variety of monster used as a challenge for the players of the game. Devils are Lawful Evil in alignment and hail from the Nine Hells of Baator. True to their Lawful Evil alignment, the devils are locked into a strict hierarchy (the 2nd Edition AD&D rules suggest that a devil could change its form as it worked its way up the ladder) which culminates with the Archdevils or Lords of the Nine who are the rulers of the different regions of Baator.
