Not spun or twisted; as, raw silk or cotton.
Some cameras allow files to be saved in the RAW format. These contain the image information as it is sent directly from the CCD, i.e. before the camera has carried out any processing at all. The RAW files are usually smaller than if saved in TIFF format because the colour information has not been processed at that point. To see and edit the files and then save them in a more conventional format, a special program or plug-in is required.
An uncompressed and unaltered image format that records exactly what the camera’s image sensor records. Although it takes up more memory than JPEG images, thus reducing the number of pictures that can be stored on a memory card, RAW format is the preferred format of professional photographers because it provides the unaltered and uncompressed image data that can be manipulated and edited using the high end features of software such as PhotoShop. The ability to save to RAW format is a feature of high-end compact cameras and Digital SLRs.
Raw file format - bitmap (filename extension).
A digital image format that contains the most information possible from a camera's sensor.
(used especially of commodities) in the natural unprocessed condition; "natural yogurt"; "natural produce"; "raw wool"; "raw sugar"; "bales of rude cotton"
Storing a picture without any image compression.
A new way of saving images to memory. The image taken is not processed by the camera and the basic information is saved 'raw'. Cannot be viewed on a computer until the image has been processed by 'raw converter' software. Allows the user to process images as they require them, but can be labour intensive and time consuming. Only found on certain cameras, mainly for professional use. No set file standard. Software provided by the camera maker.
Displays the dumped image in whatever color values currently exist on the screen. This flag is useful when undumping an image back onto the same screen that the image originally came from, while the original windows are still on the screen. This results in getting the image on the screen faster.
Simply the raw data as it comes directly off the CCD of a digital camera. With this file format there is no in camera compression that is performed. It better represents the digital image in its purest form.
Unprocessed or partially processed natural gas. See also GAS, WET.
One of the image formats available on some advanced digital cameras. RAW images are large, usually uncompressed files that, unlike JPEGs, are not processed by the camera and retain all their original data. RAW images are ideal for those who plan on editing their pictures with image-editing software. RAW images may require special software to turn them into a more common format like TIFF or JPEG.

RAW files basically hand the raw unprocessed data - at 12 bits per channel - from the camera's imaging chip to your computer. Lossless compression is applied to reduce filesize slightly without compromising any quality.
Image format with data as it comes directly off the CCD without camera processing.
The RAW image format contains data as it comes directly off a digital camera's image sensing device, with no in-camera processing performed.
The RAW image format is the data as it comes directly off the CCD, with no in-camera processing is performed.
Raw format of audio files. Doesn't contain header of an audio file.
A type of image file used on some high-end, high-resolution cameras. A raw file is exactly what the image sensor picks up, with no processing or other alteration.
A file format that stores data directly produced without compresion or manipulation by a digital camera. Usually converted to JPEG or TIFF format for manipulation and display.
A RAW file is often referred to as a digital negative. Records data in a way that can recover the maximum image quality.
An uncompressed video bitstream.
An image capture setting that records the CCD image sensor's raw data (without interpolation or electronic conversions applied) that allows the user to control and change recording parameters post shot including colour depth, ISO setting, white balance, saturation, colour bit depth and so on.
An unprocessed digital file direct from the camera. Not a 'standard' file format like TIFF or JPEG. Usually the camera manufactures software or 'plug-in' must be used to open a RAW image file. RAW files are usually used to obtain the best theroetical quality from a given camera.
Raw is a live album by the canadian hard rock and heavy metal band Moxy, in it's third incarnation with singer Brian Maxim. The album was released in 2002 accompanied by the re- release of Moxy V, that now featured live tracks that did not make it on this album. The album contains for the most part new recordings in a live format of songs from the bands first three albums that were originally released in the 1970s.
